BREAKING CHAINS explores how history continues to shape the present. Through layered imagery and symbolism, the work reflects on slavery and systemic racism with a focus on resistance, resilience and the ongoing pursuit of liberation. Rather than offering a conclusion, it invites us to consider what still needs to be reclaimed, repaired and rebuilt. This painting marks the beginning of a larger body of work. Future plans include expanding the series through exhibitions, community conversations, Juneteenth programming and limited edition works that continue exploring these themes while encouraging reflection, dialogue and collective action.
