CURRENT WORKS

EIGHT MUMS

IMG_6049_edited.jpg

Eight Mums is based on a photo I took at a flower stand in San Francisco, California. It explores how nature shines through all spectrums in of light, shadow, focus and perspective. This piece is currently displayed at the Miami Beach Walgreens until June 1st in conjunction with Oolite Arts Education Program Showcase - a collection of vibrant works from K-8th graders and adult artists.

ODE TO AMINAH

IMG_2698 2_edited.jpg

Ode to Aminah celebrates Aminah Robinson, a visionary artist from Columbus, Ohio whose mixed media creations chronicled the vibrant and often untold stories of black heritage. My piece visualizes Aminah in a Miami, Florida cityscape at a nearby park. Like many of Ms. Robinson’s works, it is made from geographical elements. Other homages include the integration of paint, stitching, recycled buttons, neckties and other textiles. It even includes a chihuahua, in celebration of Ms. Robinson’s furry friend Baby! Ode to Aminah was featured in 2025 Art Noire show at Black Palette Art Gallery in Dayton Ohio.

DARING TO DREAM

Daring to Dream was conceptualized with the help of Atlanta, Georgia residents to honor Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the trailblazers who had the courage to dream and tenacity to roll up their sleeves and work for a more just society. It celebrates Dr. King's legacy and the ripple effect it continues to have with today's dreamers. It was featured in the Arts United 2024 Lovefest juried art exhibition.

BEACH HUNK

Beach Hunk is a tribute to Chico, my late long-living sidekick. This piece is inspired by a photo I took of Chico in Miami Beach, Florida and was developed with instruction from Raul Perdono at Oolite Arts. It was created in 2024 and was featured in the 2024 Oolite Student Exhibition.

BACK DOWN MEMORY LANE

IMG_1745_edited.png

Back Down Memory Lane is a retrospective of my life. Its premise is that everyone is born from both good and bad times. Comprised of recycled elements, the piece invites interaction: a booklet, “gates” and a sewing kit can be opened to reveal additional memories. It was featured in the 2024 Arts United Memories of Yesterday juried art exhibition at the Broward County Main Library.
